THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) are the two most common cannabinoids naturally found in cannabis. Cannabinoids are the chemical compounds that interact with the receptors in your body and brain to create the various effects of a high whether it be in the body or mind.

THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol)

THC is the chemical compound found in cannabis that results in a euphoric high. Everyone reacts differently to the effects of THC. The way your body reacts depends entirely on the chemistry within your body.

Some effects of THC include:

  • Relaxation
  • Altered senses of sight, smell, and hearing
  • Fatigue
  • Hunger
  • Reduced aggression

While there are many positive effects to THC there are still potential negative side effects such as:

  • Paranoia
  • Anxiety
  • Dry mouth
  • Dry, red eyes
  • Impaired memory

CBD (Cannabidiol)

Unlike THC, CBD is not an intoxicating cannabinoid and is non-psychoactive which means it will not get users high. Strains that are high in CBD are often used to benefit customers in controlling pain, inflammation, or other chronic conditions. Some users can also be very sensitive to the effects of THC (anxiety, paranoia, or dizziness) in such cases CBD would be the better option.

Some effects of CBD include:

  • Relief of pain
  • Reduce anxiety and depression
  • Reduce nausea
  • Anti-anxiety

Medical Benefits of CBD

CBD is often used for various medical benefits and is found in many dietary and natural supplements. Some of the most common conditions and symptoms users are affected with are:

  • Crohn’s disease
  • Reduce symptoms related to cancer
  • PTSD and anxiety
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Pain and inflammation
  • Headaches and cramps
  • Muscle aches
  • And the list goes on

While THC and CBD share many of the effects, they are still vastly different. Neither THC nor CBD is better than the other. Your choice depends solely on the relief that you are searching for.
